PRICE INFO
Three countries, two great mountain ranges and an Almaty-to-Almaty adventure.
Ride from Kazakhstan through Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan on a 19-day journey linking the Pamir Highway and the Tian Shan. Cross high passes, follow the Panj River beside Afghanistan and explore the Wakhan Valley, with a night near the Bibi Fatima hot springs.
Beyond Murghab and the high Pamir plateau, return through Osh and the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Sleep in a traditional yurt at Song-Kol, unwind on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul and cross back into Kazakhstan through Karkara. A night in Saty and a morning visit to Kolsay Lake make a scenic finale before returning to Almaty.
There are 15 riding days and two rest days, in Dushanbe and Osh. Our ride leader and support vehicle accompany the group, with luggage support and a mix of hotels, guesthouses and yurts along the way.
Pamir Highway – Tian Shan
1. Almaty — arrival
Airport transfer and hotel check-in. Meet the team, check the motorcycles and prepare for the journey. Overnight in Almaty.
2. Almaty — Bishkek
Our first riding day takes us west from Almaty into Kyrgyzstan. After border formalities, continue to Bishkek at the foot of the Tian Shan. Overnight in a hotel.
3. Bishkek — Toktogul
Climb through the Too-Ashu tunnel and cross the broad Suusamyr Valley, where nomadic families graze horses and sheep. Continue over the Ala-Bel pass to Toktogul Lake. Overnight in a hotel.
4. Toktogul — Osh
Follow the mountain road and the Naryn River towards the Fergana Valley. Arrive in Osh, an ancient Silk Road city. Overnight in a hotel.
5. Osh — Khujand
Ride between the Pamir-Alai foothills and the Fergana Valley, crossing from Kyrgyzstan into Tajikistan. Continue to Khujand for the night.
6. Khujand — Dushanbe
Take the M34 south through the mountains and the Anzob tunnel to Tajikistan’s capital. Overnight in Dushanbe.
7. Dushanbe — rest day
A day to rest and explore Dushanbe at your own pace. A city tour can be arranged on request. Overnight in the hotel.
8. Dushanbe — Kalai-Khumb
Head towards the Pamirs and the Panj River. Afghan villages lie across the water as the road follows the border to Kalai-Khumb. Overnight in a guesthouse.
9. Kalai-Khumb — Khorog
Continue along one of the most dramatic sections of the Pamir Highway, following the river through deep mountain valleys to Khorog. Overnight in a guesthouse.
10. Khorog — Wakhan Valley — Bibi Fatima
Ride beside the Afghan border into the Wakhan Valley. Visit Yamchun Fort and the Bibi Fatima hot springs, with views across the valley. Overnight in a guesthouse near the springs.
11. Bibi Fatima — Murghab
Climb towards the high Pamir plateau via Khargush Pass, then cross the wide Alichur Valley to Murghab. This is a day of stark mountain scenery and riding above 4,000 metres. Overnight in a hotel.
12. Murghab — Osh
Cross Ak-Baital Pass at 4,655 metres and continue past Karakul Lake to Kyzyl-Art and the Kyrgyz border. Descend through the Alai Valley towards Osh. A demanding high-altitude riding day; overnight in a hotel.
13. Osh — rest day
Rest, enjoy the city and recharge before the Tian Shan section. A city tour is available on request. Overnight in Osh.
14. Osh — Kazarman
Leave the Fergana Valley for the Tian Shan. Mountain roads and gravel sections lead over Kaldama Pass to Kazarman. Overnight in a homestay.
15. Kazarman — Song-Kol
Wind over Moldo-Ashu Pass to the high pastures around Song-Kol Lake. Enjoy Kyrgyz hospitality and spend the night in a traditional shared yurt.
16. Song-Kol — Kochkor — Issyk-Kul
Descend from Song-Kol through the mountain valleys and Kochkor to the southern shore of Issyk-Kul. Continue east to Tosor for a lakeside overnight and a chance to relax by the water.
17. Issyk-Kul — Karkara — Saty / Kolsay
Start early for a full riding and border-crossing day. Pass through Karakol, continue to the Karkara (Karkyra) crossing and ride via Kegen to Saty in Kazakhstan. Overnight near Kolsay; the lake visit is planned for the following morning.
18. Kolsay Lake — Almaty
Visit Kolsay Lake in the morning, then ride back to Almaty through the landscapes of southeastern Kazakhstan. Return the motorcycles and celebrate the journey over a farewell dinner. Overnight in a hotel.
19. Almaty — departure
Airport transfer for your flight home.
